Aphytis proclia is an important indigenous ectoparasitoid of Quadraspidiotus pernisiosus in Jammu & Kashmir state. It has now spread to Himachal Pradesh and other apple or temperate tree growing states.

Production procedure

Aphytis proclia is also multiplied on San Jose scale as per the procedure used in Encarsia perniciosi. Aphytis proclia females are offered 3rd instar scale insects (it can attack 2nd instar nymphs, young adult female scales and male pupae) in the host parasitoid ratio of 40:1. The parasitoid completes development in 19 days. The adults live for about 12 days.
